What to Do When the Car Key Won't Turn

In this video, learn what to do if your house key won't turn: it could simply be due to the steering lock, in which case gently turn the steering wheel left and right to remove the lock. Another reason could be a damaged or dirty key, which needs cleaning, along with the lock itself.

You can use compressed air for this cleaning; perhaps the key barrel is worn. Insert the key fully and then try to turn it while pulling it out, searching for the point where the key can turn.

Remember that you can use the spare key! If nothing works, it may be time to replace the key barrel, which will also require replacing the key.
