Useful Information About Engine Oil

To distinguish oil by its fluidity and viscosity, refer to the SAE table (the most commonly used) or ACEA. When using the SAE table, the two intervals of numbers separated by W indicate the minimum and maximum operating temperatures (e.g., 5W40). The ACEA classification, however, does not consider temperatures but the specifications of the engine in which it is used: A = petrol engines, B = diesel engines, C = diesel with exhaust treatment (DPF). If you have a petrol car that is not direct injection, either 10W40 or 5W30 will suffice. The same applies to diesel cars up to 2003. From then on, the diesel world has changed significantly due to the introduction of the DPF, which requires oil with specific characteristics. The same applies to the latest generations of petrol engines, again due to anti-pollution regulations.

How to Check the Oil Level on a Jeep Renegade?

To check the oil level on a Jeep Renegade, you need to open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: on the lower left side of the engine block, you will find the dipstick for checking the level. This should be pulled out and thoroughly cleaned with a cloth: once cleaned, reinsert it back into its tube and pull it out immediately after. This way, you can check that the oil mark is between the minimum and maximum levels; finally, you can place the dipstick back in its tube.
