Regeneration of the diesel particulate filter activates automatically when the vehicle is used for 6 to 9 hours continuously or after driving 310 miles. This allows the appropriate temperature to be reached, and the control unit initiates the process. If automatic regeneration does not work, forced regeneration can be attempted. Forced regeneration occurs by increasing the engine revs to 3,000 for 10 to 12 minutes. Add a professional additive, and regeneration should start. Failure to perform regeneration risks engine damage and premature replacement of the filter.
