How to Perform a Basic Service on a KTM Duke 790

For our safety on the road, it is very important to carry out a service on cars and motorcycles. Today, this tutorial will explain how to perform a "basic service", which includes checking/changing the oil and filter on a 2018 KTM Duke 790; this same procedure can also be used on a 890. The first step is to start the motorcycle to allow the oil to drain more quickly. To change the oil filter, remove the protective cap and unscrew the two filter units to let the remnants of the old oil drain out. It is very important to collect the oil in a container during this operation and dispose of it according to your local council's instructions. After removing the two filter units, unscrew the filter cover to remove it completely. When you notice that no more oil is draining out, you can replace the filter by following the same procedure used for removal. At this point, you can reinsert the two units. After completing this operation, add the oil; generally, this motorcycle takes 2.8 litres. When you perform these steps, the service light will appear on the motorcycle's display; to remove it, go to the menu - trips and data, use the selector to navigate to settings, and then press the up and down arrows simultaneously to clear the light. You can also adjust the service interval from 15,000 km to 7,500 km.
