An excess of oil in the engine could lead to consequences far more serious than one might imagine: if there is too much oil, the crankshaft could literally whip the oil, aerating it and incorporating air particles, turning it into a foam. In this state, the oil cannot adequately lubricate the engine components, which could lead to overheating or loss of pressure. With the oil in this state, the engine will not be properly lubricated, will overheat, and then ultimately fail, seizing up. Another aspect not to overlook is that the oil can end up in the vapour recovery system, contaminating everything. It is absolutely essential to restore the correct level by draining the excess from the sump or suctioning it through the dipstick tube.

How to Check the Oil Level on a Jeep Renegade?

To check the oil level on a Jeep Renegade, you need to open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: on the lower left side of the engine block, you will find the dipstick for checking the level. This should be pulled out and thoroughly cleaned with a cloth: once cleaned, reinsert it back into its tube and pull it out immediately after. This way, you can check that the oil mark is between the minimum and maximum levels; finally, you can place the dipstick back in its tube.
