How do CV joint boots work?

In this video, you will learn how CV joint boots work: they are made of flexible rubber, and the driveshaft passes through them, with the larger end attached to the joint; their purpose is to protect the joint inside. The joint is a mechanism that transmits the rotation of the driveshaft to the wheel when you steer. These joints are filled with grease, and their job is to keep the joint lubricated without the grease spilling everywhere. The life of the boot is not easy; it is always under stress and gets dirty from the outside, so it is not uncommon for it to crack, break, or split. This causes grease to leak out and dirt to enter. Therefore, it is good to periodically check the condition of the boots. Replacing them is not easy. To remove them, you just cut them, but to fit a new one, you either have to dismantle half the car or have specific tools; in fact, when doing this operation, the labour costs more than the part itself. They should then be secured at the ends with special metal clips.

To check the oil level on a Jeep Renegade, you need to open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: on the lower left side of the engine block, you will find the dipstick for checking the level.
