How Does a Dual-Clutch Automatic Gearbox Work?

In this video, see how a dual-clutch automatic gearbox works; it is called differently depending on the manufacturer: DSC for Volkswagen, DCT for FCA, EDC for Renault, Powershift for Ford, but the operation is more or less the same. There are two clutches that operate independently of each other: one dedicated to even gears (2-4-6), the other to odd gears (1-3-5-R). They are contained in a casing that also holds lubricating oil; the shifting speed is incredible because while in second gear, the clutch for odd gears is already ready for third, for example; this solution also keeps consumption low. There are wet solutions (suitable for larger displacements) and dry solutions. One drawback is that they can be a bit harsh at the start. It is one of the most developed solutions due to its fast engagement and driving comfort, although it is an expensive option.
