How to Replace the Battery in a VW Golf Key Fob

Replacing the battery in a Volkswagen Golf key fob may seem complicated, but it isn't. Take your remote and press the release button of the metal key. Once the metal key is out, use a screwdriver to pry between the two covers of the key (in the space where the metal key fits). Pry until the cover opens, then separate one of the two covers and extract the worn battery with a screwdriver. Take a new battery of the same size and voltage. Reassemble the cover on your remote by pressing the key case until you hear it click into place. Check that the remote is functioning correctly.
