Remove a Starter Motor from a Volkswagen Polo

Learn how to remove a starter motor from a Volkswagen Polo. First, use a socket spanner to disconnect the battery cables. Lift the car with a column lift and remove the splash guard from the left front wheel using a screwdriver and needle-nose pliers. Disconnect the starter motor power terminals with pliers or a screwdriver depending on the pressure of the tabs, then use a socket spanner to unscrew the securing bolts of the starter motor and remove it from the engine bay. Finally, fit the new starter motor with the power cables and the associated securing screws.
