How to remove the driver’s side airbag (steering wheel) on a Volkswagen New Beetle? This operation is very simple if you follow the steps. Insert a medium-length screwdriver into the rear slots on the steering wheel and rotate until the clips that secure the airbag are released. Once the airbag is removed, disconnect the power connectors and take it out of the steering wheel. For refitting the airbag: connect the power connector, then press the airbag onto the steering wheel until the locking clips click into place.
