Want to remove the steering wheel airbag on a New Beetle? Here’s how to do it. Insert a medium-length screwdriver or key into the rear slots of the steering wheel and release the locking clips. Once released, disconnect the airbag with its associated power connectors. Use a socket wrench to unscrew the bolts on the steering wheel if you wish to replace it. Reconnect the power connector, secure the airbag: press the airbag plastic until the locking clips snap into place within the steering wheel plastics. Check the correct assembly of the parts.
