How to change the gear knob on the Volkswagen Golf GTI MK8

Even though it is a recent model, it is possible that the gear knob has been damaged, or we simply do not like it anymore and want to change it on our Volkswagen Golf GTI MK8; we lift up the frame of the gear lever boot, and insert a small screwdriver into the locking ring, then lift the gear knob to remove it, with some force. To remove the boot from the gear lever, we will have to cut it with a cutter. We remove the gear lever pattern from the knob using an iron stick, then insert the gear knob through the boot, and secure it to the knob with a clamp. We reposition the gear knob on the shaft, and tighten the four fixing screws, then pull down the boot and put it back in its place; we press the insert with the gear lever pattern and the job is done.
