How to replace the timing belt on a Volkswagen Passat 2000 TDI. Here’s how to proceed: open the engine bonnet and lift it, securing it; remove the coolant reservoir with a socket wrench, disconnect the wiring harness with pliers, and remove the plastic undertray with a screwdriver. Lift the car on a column lift to access the underside. Use a spanner to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. With a socket wrench, unscrew the tensioner pulley bolt, and remove the water pump as shown in the video. Install the new water pump, the tensioner, and the belt, and tighten everything with the socket wrench.
