How to Replace the Timing Belt on a Volkswagen Up?

You can completely replace the timing belt on a Volkswagen Up by lifting the car so that the front right wheel is not in contact with the ground; it will then need to be removed along with the corresponding inner wheel arch. You will then have access to the side of the engine block where the timing belt is located: by loosening the nut that secures the tensioner roller, you can completely remove it, reducing the tension on the belt. The old belt can now be removed from its housing, position the new one, and check that everything works.
