How to Replace the Compressor on a Volkswagen Golf V

Learn how to replace the air conditioning compressor on a Volkswagen Golf V: you will need socket wrenches, pliers, locking pins, O-rings, specific lubricant, gloves, and safety glasses. Start by removing the lower protection, disconnect the battery, and remove the air intake hose; also move the fuel filter housing (3 screws, without disconnecting the hoses). Loosen the belt using a 6mm wrench on the tensioner (turn clockwise). Insert a pin into the tensioner hole to lock it in position. Remove the compressor belt. Remove the two bolts that secure the lines to the compressor, but be careful as gas leaks may occur; gently pull the lines to detach them, then disconnect the power cable from below. Remove the upper and lower bolts and extract the compressor. Now it's time to install the new compressor that you may have purchased on eBay with code 187129947570 for £194.90 with free delivery: do not fully tighten the three bolts, reconnect the A/C lines, reposition the belt, remove the pin from the tensioner, slide the belt onto the compressor pulley, replace the air hose and the fuel filter.
