Resetting the AdBlue Lock on a Volkswagen Vehicle with the VCDS System

Let’s see how to reset the AdBlue light on a Volkswagen vehicle using the VCDS system. A temporary reset (for about 31 miles) is possible if the car won’t start due to the additive running out: connect the VCDS to the OBD2 and turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Select: 01 Engine and then 04 Basic Settings. Then search for the function "reset SCR lock". At this point, press "go" and wait for confirmation. Start the car: you have a range of 31 miles to add AdBlue. After filling the AdBlue tank, you need to perform a complete reset. Reconnect the VCDS and repeat the connection: 01 Engine - 04 Basic Settings. Select "Tank level detection": press "go" to reset the system, close the controller and turn off the car for two minutes.
