This guide will show you how to remove and replace the gear knob on the manual gearbox of a Volkswagen Golf in simple steps. First, get into the vehicle and start by detaching the base of the gear gaiter, prying it from the sides.

Then, pull the gaiter upwards and detach the clip between it and the knob, pulling the knob to remove it as shown in the video. Now install the new gear knob, securing it properly onto the lever; finally, also secure the gear gaiter onto the base!
