Want to replace the gear knob on a Volkswagen Golf 5? Here’s how to remove it. Use a plastic lever to detach the leather gaiter frame, then remove the metal clip. Grasp the gear knob and rotate it left and right until it comes off the gear stick (remove the lower gaiter frame if you want to replace it). For installation, take the new knob and slide it onto the stick in the centre console, securing it with the metal clip. Finally, test the movement of the stick in the centre console to ensure the new knob is correctly fitted.
