Installing a Rear View Camera

Model: Volkswagen Amarok MK 1 - Years 2010-2021

The following video illustrates how to mount a camera on the rear number plate of a Volkswagen Amarok. The camera also includes four infrared LEDs for better night visibility. First, pass the camera cable through the gap to the right of the number plate. The power needed for the camera will be supplied by the reverse light. Remove the two Torx screws to extract the right rear light. Disconnect the power connector from the rear light. Strip the insulation from the wires indicated in the image and solder the camera's power wires (remember to re-insulate the wires). Use cable ties to secure the camera cable to the rear light cable. Route the wiring under the rear door on the driver's side. The video shows the exact path for the wiring. The video uses the cigarette lighter socket to provide power for the monitor. At the end, a test of the camera's operation in the dark is conducted.
