Is your key fob battery dead? Let's see how to open the key fob of a Golf. Take your remote and press the release button of the metal key. Once the metal key is out, use a screwdriver to pry between the two halves of the key. Pry until the cover opens, then separate one of the covers and extract the worn battery with a screwdriver. Install the new battery inside the key. Reattach the cover on your remote by pressing the key case until you hear it click into place. Check the functionality of the remote.
