Replacing the Lock on a 2005 Volkswagen Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008
Part: Door lock

Required: T20 torx key, T10 torx key, flat screwdriver, pliers. 1- Remove the torx screws from the door catch. 2- Manually remove the lock cylinder and use pliers to pull off the handle. 3- Remove another T10 screw behind the lock handle. This operation frees the entire door panel; remove it carefully. 4- Remove the other two T20 torx screws that secure the door mechanism; you may need to use a penetrating spray (like WD40). Detach the handle frame, taking care not to lose the small seals around the bolts. 6- Remove the door mechanism by lifting it slightly and pulling it towards you. 7- Using a screwdriver, disconnect the cable with pliers and the plastic cover (held by three white tabs) with a screwdriver. To reassemble the new lock, follow the reverse procedure.
