How to Remove the Fuel Pump from a Passat Tank

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

Is the fuel pump damaged? Remove the pump from inside the tank and replace it. Open the rear door and remove the rear seat cushions. Unscrew the securing screws of the metal cap using a socket wrench, then remove it from its seat, using absorbent paper around the perimeter to soak up any liquid leaks. Unscrew the large securing nut of the fuel pump, disconnect the power connectors and the liquid circulation tubes. Extract the fuel pump from inside the tank. Connect the power connectors to the new pump and insert it into the tank.
