Replacing the Rear Number Plate Light

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

The lamp holder is located along the inner edge of the bumper, just above the number plate; to unclip it, simply press the side tab with a small flat screwdriver or the tip of a key. Then remove the old bulb and replace it with the new one, ensuring it is properly seated between the two electrodes (check that these are not oxidised and that they fit snugly against the bulb terminals); it may be advisable to replace both bulbs, not just the blown one, to ensure more uniform and consistent illumination of the number plate.
