How to Replace the Ignition Switch on a Volkswagen Beetle

Model: Volkswagen Maggiolino MK 1 - Years 1938-1980

Before starting, sit in the driver's seat of your Volkswagen Beetle. Begin by unclipping the horn and disconnecting its electrical connector. Next, remove the steering wheel by simply unscrewing the central fixing nut. At this point, disconnect the plugs from the light switch assembly, then remove the light switch assembly itself. This will expose the screws that secure the ignition switch, which you will need to unscrew and remove, then take out the ignition switch itself, completing the disassembly. To fit the new ignition switch, simply follow these few steps in reverse, and you will have completed the replacement.
