If inserting the key of the Volkswagen Golf 7 into the ignition cylinder displays the message "Replace the key battery", you need to open the remote to perform this operation. To open the remote, press the button that releases the key and insert a lever-like object into the slot where the key is located when it is retracted. Once the remote cover is opened, insert a flathead screwdriver under the battery to pull it out from its housing. Finally, insert the new battery and close the remote again.
