This video shows how to remove the panel or trim of the rear hatch on the fifth series Volkswagen Golf, following the instructions below. First, open the rear hatch and start by unscrewing the securing screws of the panel; these can be found inside the grab handles, as shown in the video.

Once the screws are removed, pry at the sides of the panel to detach and remove it completely; this will give you access to the handle and lock of the rear hatch. Apply the reverse procedure for reassembly!
