To replace the water pump on a Volkswagen Golf 2, open the bonnet to access the engine bay and remove the cap from the coolant reservoir. After removing the protection at the bottom, you will need to pull out the thermostat, collecting the fluid in a container. At this point, you can remove the poly-v belt: once this and the related pulleys have been removed, you can pull the water pump from its housing and replace it with a new spare part. After replacement, reinstall all previously removed parts.
