How to Replace the Remote and Battery of the Volkswagen Golf 6

To change the battery of the remote for the Volkswagen Golf 6, use a small flathead screwdriver to pry open the key's housing. Remove the cover beneath the VW emblem; once the cover is off, you'll find the battery. Use the small flathead screwdriver to pry from underneath the battery to remove it. In the video, you also need to change the key shells, but if you only need to replace the battery, insert the new one in place of the old and close the cover. To change the key shells, use a pair of expanding pliers; insert them into the key housing and expand until the shells detach. Use a small flathead screwdriver to remove the circuit board, then open the new key using the same method as the old one. Insert the circuit board into the new key in the marked position, place the key with the spring into the shell, close the shells, replace the battery, and close the battery cover. Finally, test the new key and remove the protective film from the VW emblem.
