Instructions for Replacing Diesel Filter

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005
Part: Diesel fuel filter

The diesel filter housing is located at the front left of the engine bay (when viewed from the front), near the coolant reservoir. Therefore, unscrew the fixing screws along the edges of the cover and lift it without disconnecting the pipes. Remove the old filter cartridge, then unscrew the fixing screws of the support bracket of the filter housing to empty it completely and clean it thoroughly. Then, secure the housing, fill it halfway with clean diesel, insert the new filter cartridge, replace the o-ring gasket under the cover, and secure it with the appropriate screws.
