How to Replace the Auxiliary Belt on a Volkswagen Passat

In this video tutorial, you can see how to replace the auxiliary belt on a Volkswagen Passat. The first step is to purchase a new auxiliary belt. Get inside the vehicle, turn off the engine, and pull the handbrake. Disconnect the battery to avoid damage to the electrical system using a socket wrench with a 10 mm bit. At this point, lift the front of the car with a hydraulic jack and place axle stands under the vehicle for safety. Unscrew the bolts of the front wheel, and once the front of the car is lifted, you can also remove the wheel. Once the wheel is removed, place it under the vehicle for added safety. Now, you need to remove the wheel arch liner to access the auxiliary belt; for this, use a Torx T20 socket for the wheel arch screws. Once the wheel arch is removed, you have access to the auxiliary belt. Use a socket to loosen the belt; now, by lifting the tensioner, you can remove the auxiliary belt; now, position the new auxiliary belt (the markings on the belt should turn clockwise).
