In this tutorial, see how to remove the starter motor from the Volkswagen Golf. First, open the bonnet and remove both the intake manifold and the air filter box, then disconnect both battery terminals and remove the battery. Next, lift the front left wheel with a jack, taking all necessary precautions, remove the undertray, and disconnect the solenoid power supply. At this point, unscrew the starter motor mounting bolts and extract it from the engine bay. To fit the replacement, simply follow the reverse procedure.
