Repair and Installation of the Lock Cylinder on a Volkswagen Golf IV

This video shows how to repair the lock cylinder on a Volkswagen Golf IV: use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the clip, carefully take off the end piece, then the spring cover and the spring. Remove the cam, which is the part that typically wears out. Replacement kits can easily be found on e-commerce sites; then reassemble the cylinder by replacing the spring and spring cover. To compress the spring, insert it into the retaining groove and compress it with the end piece, holding it down and rotating it until the end of the spring, using your fingernail or a small screwdriver for assistance. While keeping it pressed down, replace the cover, fitting it into its notch and, while maintaining pressure on the spring, insert the closure pin. Finally, reinstall the lock.
