How to Replace the Battery on a Volkswagen Touran

In this video tutorial, you can see how to replace the battery on a Volkswagen Touran by following a few simple steps: First, get into the vehicle, switch off the engine, and pull the handbrake; lift the bonnet and secure it with the prop rod; the battery is located on the right side of the engine bay. Use a socket wrench with an extension and a 30 mm socket to undo the battery's securing plate, then remove the battery from its housing; pushing down the tab will allow you to open the plastic cover of the battery. Start by disconnecting the negative terminal using a 10 mm socket wrench with an extension. Move the negative cable away and proceed to disconnect the positive terminal as well. Now you can remove the battery from its housing and replace it with the new one. Sand the inside of the terminals to prevent long-term breakages. Position the new battery in place, cover the terminals with copper grease to improve contact between the terminals and connectors and to limit oxidation; start by reconnecting the positive terminal, then the negative terminal of the battery.
