Overhaul and Cleaning of the Carburettor on a 1976 Volkswagen Beetle 1200

The carburettor we will be working on is a Solex PCT 30 that has been removed from the manifold. Remove the gasket, which will be replaced later, and detach the vacuum tube from the distributor. Disassemble the upper body of the carburettor by unscrewing the 4 screws: remove the gasket that will also be replaced. Using a 14 mm spanner, remove the fuel flow valve. The starter is located on the carburettor body, and we need to check if it is functioning; this can be done easily with wires, connecting the positive to the terminal and the negative to ground. The butterfly should open. Also, disassemble the starter and detach the vacuum unit that will be replaced. As you disassemble the various parts, set everything aside, as we will replace the worn parts that are part of a kit, while keeping all the parts that need to be reassembled, possibly photographing or carefully noting them. Where possible, perform functionality checks. Once you have the carburettor body, clean it thoroughly and reassemble it, replacing the old and damaged parts. The whole operation is not the simplest but is feasible; just have a bit of skill and a quiet half hour to complete everything.
