Replacing Floor Parts or Undercarriage

Model: Volkswagen Maggiolino MK 1 - Years 1938-1980

Move the front seats forward to maximise space in the rear; detach the rear seat base and remove it from the cabin; remove all coverings until you access the floor (the body is a sort of shell applied to the floor and is relatively simple to disassemble).
Then remove the rusted piece of floor, shaping the area appropriately for the new piece of metal. Once the new floor piece is in place, weld it in several spots to secure it to the body (perform some test welds on a scrap piece of metal to optimise the welder settings). Once welding is complete, seal the edges of the joint with appropriate sealant.
