To replace the auxiliary belt on a Volkswagen Polo IV: First, lift the vehicle using a jack and two axle stands. It’s always best not to rely too much on the jack if you need to work underneath the vehicle. Open the bonnet. Pull the tensioner pulley sideways using a 16mm spanner, then remove the belt. The complete new tensioner kit costs £35.29 + £9.95 for shipping on Auto-doc. It is advisable to replace the tensioner pulley at this stage. Install the new belt: ensure that the markings rotate clockwise. To ensure the belt adheres well to the pulleys, pull the tensioner pulley sideways. Slide the belt on, ensuring it is properly positioned. You can lower the vehicle and close the bonnet. Task completed.
