Car Radio Removal and Dashboard Dismantling

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008

To dismantle the car radio, you will need a Torx screwdriver size 20 and a plastic trim removal tool.
Using the plastic trim tool, disengage the air vent grille located at the centre of the dashboard (for some versions, it may also be necessary to disconnect a connector located beneath the grille). Remove the fixing screw of the plastic support and extract it by pulling it out from the back first. Unscrew the two fixing screws of the central air ducts and carefully disengage the retaining clips to extract them, and if necessary, disconnect the connector for the hazard switch. Unscrew the two screws securing the central console frame and carefully disengage the retaining clips (2 on the right, 2 on the left, and 4 underneath).
At this point, you can remove the car radio by unscrewing the 4 Torx fixing screws and disconnecting the connectors attached to it, 2 at the bottom right (disconnect by lifting the locking tab first) and then the one at the top left (remove simply by rotating the locking tab).
