How to Reset the Service Light on a VW Passat

Model: Volkswagen Passat B6, 3C - Years 2005-2010
Part: Service warning light

If the SERVICE light illuminates on the instrument cluster display, it means it's time for maintenance; once you have changed the oil and the relevant filter, resetting the SERVICE warning light is done manually without the aid of any diagnostic tool;
- switch off the engine;
- press and hold the button with the spanner symbol located just below the speedometer;
- while holding this button, turn on the ignition without starting the engine;
- release the button and press it again within 20 seconds;
- switch off the ignition.
