Replacing the Gear Knob of the Volkswagen Tiguan Automatic

Follow these steps to install a new gear knob with LED indicators for the selected gear on your Volkswagen Tiguan automatic. Start by detaching the base of the gear gaiter, remove the connector, pull the gaiter upwards, and use a flathead screwdriver to loosen the metal ring at the base of the knob. Grip the knob with both hands and pull firmly until it separates from the shaft. Remove the plastic ring at the top of the gaiter to take off the old knob. Fit the new knob with the LEDs by threading the electrical cable through the hole, replace the plastic ring, ensuring the edges of the gaiter are well seated, move the cable to the side, and secure everything with a cable tie. Reattach the metal ring at the base of the knob and mount it onto the shaft, positioning it correctly and tightening the ring. Using a splitter cable, connect the original cable to both the base and the knob, and secure the base of the gaiter in its place.
