How do you adjust the handbrake of the Volkswagen Up?

In order to adjust the handbrake of the Volkswagen Up, you need to loosen the screw that secures the plastic cover of the central tunnel, which completely surrounds the handbrake lever: this cover will be fixed with a screw located on the inside of the cup holder. Once this screw is loosened, it will be possible to lift the cover and access the bolt that tensions the handbrake cable: tightening this bolt will make the handbrake harder and reduce its travel; conversely, loosening it will make the handbrake softer and increase its travel.
