On newer car models, where the outer covering of the headlights is made of plastic rather than glass, it often happens that this plastic tends to become cloudy and yellowed due to the action of sunlight and possibly also car wash detergents. If the surface is not severely compromised, you can restore its shine with a simple polishing operation. Start with wet sanding using very fine sandpaper (e.g., 2000 grit) until the surface becomes uniformly dull, then polish the surface with wax: the final result will be astonishing.
