To remove the old battery from a Volvo V40 (2012-2019), first open the remote. To do this, start by extracting the physical emergency key by pulling the release tab. Now, insert a small flathead screwdriver into the slot of the extracted physical key and lever the back cover of the remote to open it as shown in the video.

At this point, you can remove the exhausted old battery and replace it with a new one, then close everything by following the reverse procedure. The required battery is the CR2430 3V.
