Proper Maintenance of the Scuff Plate

This video explains the correct way to clean the scuff plates of an Alfa Romeo 156. For cleaning, it is advisable to use classic denatured alcohol or household cleaning products (provided they are not too aggressive on contact with the bodywork). You can use microfiber cloths or, alternatively, classic soft dusting cloths. Avoid using solvents, aggressive degreasers, or silicone-based polishing products. The video also recommends using non-abrasive drafting rubber to remove scuff marks caused by shoe rubber. Additionally, a transparent adhesive film (available at paint shops) can be applied for further protection of the chrome parts of the scuff plate: simply cut a strip to the size of the chrome part to protect, spray the area with water (preferably demineralised) to avoid air bubbles, and apply the film strip. Now, using a craft knife, carefully trim the excess film without applying too much pressure. Now the scuff plate is also protected by this film!

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
