Replacing the Coolant Thermostat

Model: Audi A6 C4, MK 1 - Years 1994-1997

Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for safety. Remove the screws from the engine cover and take it off to access the interior. Open the radiator expansion tank cap and place a coolant catch pan under the vehicle. Locate the thermostat and disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the various water hoses to access the thermostat and proceed with its removal. The thermostat is located on an aluminum elbow that needs to be removed and cleaned. Install the new thermostat and reassemble the various components that were previously removed. Reconnect the connector and top off the coolant.
