Front Shock Absorber Replacement

Model: Audi A4 B5 - Years 1994-2000
Part: Suspension system

For this operation, you need a wrench and a puller. Remove the wheel and unscrew the nut on the wheel hub. Securely tie the entire suspension arm assembly so it doesn't fall during the operation. Unscrew and remove the retaining pins of the arm from the suspension using the appropriate puller. Also disconnect the steering tie rod. Using a wrench and a ratchet, remove all suspension bolts. With a 30 Torx wrench, unscrew the retaining screws of the brake assembly. Remove the brake electrical wires and use the puller to take the entire brake assembly off the hub. Unscrew the nut on top of the cover and completely remove it for easy access. Unscrew the three retaining bolts of the suspension and fully extract it downward. With the appropriate equipment, compress the spring to allow for the removal of the worn shock absorber and replace it with a new one. Also replace the spring and rubber boot. Reassemble the suspension on the vehicle in reverse order.

How to Remove and Reinstall the Rear Wheel Support Plates

To remove and reinstall the rear wheel support plates, first lift the car on a ramp. Then, using a 12 mm socket, unscrew the bolts securing the wheel to remove it. Next, take out the support assembly by unscrewing the relevant bolts. You can then slide out the first plate by unscrewing the bolts with the appropriate spanner. After that, using a 35 mm socket, remove the other bolt that precedes the second plate. Proceed to unscrew all the smaller screws to take it off. To reinstall everything, simply reverse all the steps just mentioned, ensuring to clean all parts thoroughly and lubricate them.
