How to Replace the Shift Knob on an Audi A4 B8?

To replace the shift knob on an Audi A4 B8, disconnect the retaining clips that secure the leather boot to its housing. Once you remove these clips, you can lift the boot and access the hook that connects the shift boot to the knob itself. By removing this hook, you can pull off both the knob and the leather boot from the top of the shifter. At this point, install the new knob by snapping it onto the end of the shifter lever, and then secure the boot to the base.
