Replacing the CV Joint

Model: Audi A4 B6 - Years 2000-2004

To replace the CV joint, you need to remove the axle: before lifting the vehicle, unscrew the central bolt that secures the axle to the hub. Then lift the vehicle on a lift and complete the wheel removal. Next, unscrew the bolts that secure the axle flange to the transmission and finish removing it. Once the axle is on the workbench, slide off the boot and extract the old CV joint. Then, place the new boot on the axle, generously grease the new joint, and apply it to the axle, being careful not to damage the splines on the hub (tap with a rubber mallet or use a piece of wood to hit with the hammer). Finally, secure the boot with clamps.
