How to Replace the Front Suspension Spring.

Model: Audi A4 B6 - Years 2000-2004
Part: Suspension system

Place the car on a lift and raise it to a comfortable working height. Remove the front wheel. Using the appropriate wrenches, unscrew the bolts that secure the suspension at the bottom of the wheel axle and at the top. Move the suspension from its position (if necessary, use a punch to remove the bolts from the holes). Lower the lift and open the hood. Remove the gasket that separates the plastic from the engine compartment and take out the plastic cover. Using a screwdriver, remove the rubber plug from the bolt hole that secures the suspension. Now, using the appropriate wrench, unscrew the bolts and you can extract the suspension. With a special tool, compress the spring and unscrew the bolt on the top of the suspension to remove the components on the spring. Now you can replace the spring itself. Reassemble the top piece following the same procedure but in reverse order. Finally, reattach the suspension to the car by following the same steps in reverse, using a hydraulic jack under the wheel (to relieve tension) when securing the connection to the axle. The maintenance operation described is performed on an Audi A4.
