This article explains how to reset the service light on a BMW 530i. No tools are required for this procedure. To reset the oil light, which serves as the service light in this model, press the ignition button three times.

Then, press the BC button located on the turn signal stalk until the button on the left side of the instrument cluster is displayed. Hold it until the service light appears.

Once it appears, press and hold the button until the word RESET shows below the light. At this point, release the button and press it again, holding it down to confirm the reset.

Wait for the procedure to finish. Once the light is reset, restart the instrument cluster.
