How do you adjust the handbrake of the BMW 5 Series?

In order to adjust the handbrake of the BMW 5 Series, you need to lift the car so that the rear wheels can be removed from their housing by loosening the appropriate screws. Once these have been loosened, you can remove the wheel and access the hub underneath. You will need to pull the handbrake lever all the way and turn the hub counterclockwise: by doing this, you will be able to lock the handbrake by inserting the wheel. Then you can lower the handbrake lever to check that it has been properly adjusted again.
