To adjust the parking brake on a BMW 5 Series, lift the vehicle so that the rear wheels can be removed by loosening the appropriate bolts. Once these are loosened, remove the wheel to access the hub underneath.

Pull the parking brake lever fully and turn the hub counterclockwise. This will allow you to engage the parking brake by reinstalling the wheel.

Then, lower the parking brake lever to check that it has been properly adjusted.
